Summary

In Chapter 9, “In Which Several Things Go Wrong,” Luna’s magic is more powerful than anything Xan or Glerk have ever seen, but her lack of control over her own powers makes her dangerous. Luna continues to transform things she touches without meaning to change them. She accidentally turns Glerk, the swamp monster, into a bunny but is unable to recognize that she is the reason he transformed. Xan decides to place Luna into a cocoon to protect both her and everyone else. Luna is stuck in something called “stasis,” which is like pressing the pause button on her life. This is a difficult spell for Xan to conjure. All of Xan’s spells are difficult now. She is getting very old very quickly and the strength of her magic is fading because it is leaving her and entering Luna.
