Ellie

Ellie is the story's narrator and main character. When the story opens she is 11 years old and hates change, yet she's in a traditional period in her life. She has just finished elementary school and is now entering middle school. Elementary school was comfortable to her. Everyone knew everyone else. But middle school is a new place with new people. And, she can't even go through this time with the support of her best friend, Brianna, because she has found her passion and it doesn't include Ellie.

Finding her own passion is problematic for Ellie. Her parents want her to find it and would like it to be drama, like it is for them, but she knows that it's not for her. When her grandfather, Melvin, appears as a teenager things change for her, though. Ellie discovers that she has an aptitude for science and that she has...
