Sergeant Mandella, 2007-2024 A.D., Chapters 2-3 Summary

Mandella heads for his squad's shell compound and meets with his second in command. They are each given a shot which protects their bodies on the cellular level and prevents cells from being crushed during the pressurization and depressurization that occurs during tactical maneuvers. Mandella orders his squad into their individualized shells and pressurizes the chamber with a substance that collapses the shells into their bodies. The sensations experienced by the body are simultaneously compressing and expanding. The signal informs that the acceleration is over and Mandella depressurizes the chamber.
