Summary

In “Today, 11:09 a.m.,” the reader sees that the person Kate calls on speed dial is Dexter. Kate finally reveals that the mysterious woman is Julia. They have not seen her for some time, since “winter before last (115).” Kate tells Dexter that Julia and Bill want to have dinner with them, so Kate picks a restaurant where no one can be hiding to attack them. While they are talking, Kate thinks of the secluded farmhouse in the mountains where they have supplies and money hidden in case they have to go on the run. Before hanging up, she tells Dexter Julia’s message: “The Colonel is dead. (117)” Kate considers moving to the beach.
