The Dutch House

The Dutch House is Danny and Maeve's childhood home. Cyril buys the estate with money he earns and invests in a series of properties. After living for years on a naval base, he surprises Elna and Maeve with the house. Life at the Dutch House, however, disagrees with Elna. Even after she leaves the family, Cyril continues to love the house, and lives there until his death. His second wife, Andrea, assumes ownership and control of the estate, dismissing Danny and Maeve from the property and forbidding them from returning.

For years, memories of the house haunt the siblings. They return to the street outside the Dutch House every time Danny is back in town for a visit. Sitting outside their former home, they feel a sense of familiarity and closeness, they later must learn to let go of.
