Chapters 1-6 Summary

In Chapter 1, the Demonai are attending a feast. Raisa, the Gray Wolf Queen, is in attendance as is her bodyguard, Han Alister. At the feast, Raisa's father, Averill, announces that he has chosen Nightwalker as his successor. This upsets several at the table, including Night Bird who has been Nightwalker's bed partner in the past. Raisa also knows it is an attempt on her father's part to facilitate a marriage between her and Nightwalker. Later there is dancer and Raisa finds herself having a wonderful time. When the clan decides to do the battle dance, Hanalea's Triumph, Han volunteers for the unwanted role of the Demon King.

In Chapter 2, as they dance together, Raisa finds herself drawn to Han and the memory of their past kisses. Han asks Raisa to marry him, but she thinks it is part of the role...
