Summary

Chapter 14

One morning in October Alfred awakens at 5:30. Instead of running, he tries to fall back to sleep. When she gets up, Aunt Pearl sees that he hasn’t run and asks if he is feeling okay. She says that he will be late for work if he doesn’t get moving. Alfred says he feels fine and that he has the day off. Aunt Pearl asks Alfred to tell her why he’s staying in bed, and Alfred promises that he will tell her later that night. At 10:00 Henry comes by, and they walk to the gym. Mr. Donatelli is waiting and takes them down to Dr. Corey’s office where the dentist hands Henry a box containing Alfred’s custom mouthpiece.
