Chapter 2 Summary

Qwill, the richest man in Pickax, has a bike accident in midsummer. Two months before, he was a frugal bachelor living in Mooseville whose only extravagance was caring for his two Siamese cats. When he learns that he has inherited the Klingenschoen fortune, he quits his job and arranges to move to Pickax because Miss Klingenschoen's will dictates he must live in Moose County for five years or forfeit the inheritance to a family in New Jersey. At his farewell lunch with Riker, Riker teases Qwill about the lack of crime in Moose County. Everyone knows he has helped the police with a few cases, though Koko, his cat, actually sniffed out the clues.
