Summary

In Chapter 12, this section of the novel is set one week after Part 1. Just as Wilde was considering if he wanted to see the results from a DNA test he had submitted, a car pulled into his drive. Wilde opened the video feed that showed Bernard’s red Audi. Bernard said that Naomi was missing again. He did not believe that she had run away this time. He explained he had called the police, but they were not concerned because of Naomi’s history. Bernard mentioned that he had heard Wilde was once part of a security firm. He offered to pay Wilde to find Naomi. Bernard reasoned that even if Naomi had only run away again, she still needed to be found.
