Ibiza

Ibiza is the setting for all of the chapters written in the narrative present. In order to help his wife achieve nominal stability, Ernest moves her from Detroit to this city in Spain. Not long after they arrive, Catherine writes to Amanda, urging her to join them. Throughout the chapters set in the present, Amanda describes her time in this location with her friends. The majority of their time is spent walking or sitting on the beach, eating, talking, or arguing.
