Summary

Part IV: Amrika begins in 1978 as Mazna and Idris arrive in the United States. However, Mazna is not happy to be there and cried on her wedding night. She thinks of how her entire life fits in a trunk. She thinks of her mother-in-law and Idris assures her that America is the land of opportunity. They are picked up in Phoenix by Idris’s colleague, Eddie, as Mazna thinks of how they are now alone. Mazna thinks of how she cried for her family on the plane. She struggled through the wedding and her grief and was unable to speak to Sara.

Eddie and Idris talk during their trip and Idris says he is studying for cardiac surgery. After learning it is four hours to Los Angeles, Idris says that Mazna is an actress. They...
