Part 2: Chapters 21-23 Summary

As Chapter 21 begins, Knoll is at Rachel's office. He is informed by her secretary that Rachel will not be in to work today. Using his charm, Knoll discovers that Rachel will be leaving for Munich tomorrow. He asks the secretary to let Rachel know he came by. Knoll made a call in to Monika to give her an update. She warns him about killing Rachel because she knows he has killed Karol.

In Chapter 22, across the mezzanine from Rachel's office, Suzanne Danzer stands disguised waiting for Knoll. She has been tracking him since he killed Karol Boyra. Suzanne congratulates herself on staying unnoticed by Knoll. The narration quickly shifts to Knoll's point of view. Knoll notices Suzanne has been following him as he makes his way to this hotel room. Wasting no time, he tries to find a ticket...
