Part 1: Chapters 9 - 11 Summary

In Chapter 9, the reader learns a little bit about the Christian Knoll. Knoll lives at a castle, called Burg Hertz. Burg Hertz is the home of Knoll's employer, Franz Fellner. Knoll's father was a factory worker and his mother was a music teacher. They lived in a small apartment in Munich. Jacob Knoll, instilled anger into his son. He was also a fervent member of the Nazi party and remained devoted to Hitler until he died. At 18, with his father and mother dead, Knoll enrolled at the University of Munich. He then secured a fellowship a Cambridge and then a job at Nordstern Fine Art Insurance Limited in London.
