Summary

In Chapter 19, Hal volunteered himself and Daisy as hosts for Melville’s spring cocktail party. Daisy criticized him for not asking her first because she would be expected to put a good deal of work into preparing food and cleaning the house.

During the party, Daisy felt out of place because she was not slender and beautiful like the other women. She believed the others looked down upon her because she had not finished her college degree. She wondered if Hal ever resented her because she was not more glamorous.
