Summary

Chapter 12 begins with the dispatch of a domestic violence call to Tausolo’s apartment. Theresa has called to report that he is hitting her. Brad Clark, chief of police for Grandview Plaza has seen a drastic increase in the number of domestic violence cases involving soldiers. He had helped with both suicides at Geary Estates. It reminded him of the first time he saw a suicide victim and he wondered if he had that sort of flashback as a police officer, what the soldiers must be experiencing.

Because he sees marks on Theresa, he has no choice but to arrest Tausolo who tries to tell him nothing happened. Tausolo remembers the incident differently. He followed the officer’s orders because that was what he did. He had gotten angry with Theresa because she had been smoking while breastfeeding their baby, and he did not...
