In his book Thank You for Your Service, David Finkel describes the far reaching effects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in veterans and the disruption the disorder has on their lives, and the lives of their family members, when they return home from combat. Finkel closely follows the life of Adam Schumann and his family from the time he decides to leave the service because of combat stress through his struggle to live with the psychological damage done by war. The story includes the people with whom Schumann and his wife come into contact as well as a variety of other veterans and civilians who deal with PTSD or those suffering with PTSD in their lives.
