Riley Cavanaugh/Alix

Riley Cavanaugh is a gender fluid teen. Riley is the main character and narrator of this novel. Riley is the only child of Congressman Cavanaugh and his wife.

Because Riley’s sexual orientation fluctuates between the feminine and masculine, the author is careful not to reveal what sex Riley was at birth. For this reason Riley is referred to by the gender neutral pronouns "they" or "their" when references are made to Riley. It is important that the reader relate to Riley as a person, not as a boy or a girl.
