Chapters 31, 30 & 29 Summary

The next day at work, Tender is bombarded with calls from agents and producers. They all want to know if he is really the last surviving Creedish. Tender's caseworker is terrified that he will commit suicide. She is doing anything she can to appease him, even if this includes making gin and tonics. On the television, a reporter is saying the last surviving Creedish is on a suicide watch.

The agents and producers who are calling Tender tell him that he can have his own TV show, exercise video, People magazine cover, his own religious program, his own line of autographed bibles, and product endorsements. He could be a Celebrity Superstar.

While Tender is on the phone, he and his caseworker examine other survivors' files. Last night, the second to last survivor ate dirt in order to kill herself. The girl before that...
