Book 3: Chapter 10-14 Summary

Chapter ten begins with the expedition getting ready to leave. It is now that Blakely explains to the group about the previous crew that has been missing for more than three months. Ashley and the others are angry at being lied to. Ashley says it is now a rescue mission, but Blakely says that it is a joint operation. Blakely says they waited to send another expedition crew in until they had better communications systems set in place. Major Michaelson leaves for a moment, and Blakely tells Ashley in private that Major Michaelson volunteered for the job because Michaelson's brother, Harry, was a member of the first expedition crew. Ashley tells Blakely that he had better take good care of Jason, to which Blakely says he will.
