Summary

Javier has grown to really enjoy the Mexican food the migrants have been eating while they wait to move on to their next location. They have been staying with an older woman named Doña who makes all of their meals. They are in a remote area near the desert and Javier notices how cold it is at night. The polleros have told the migrants to sleep during the day so that they get used to the temperature because they will only be walking at night to avoid detection.

Once it is time for them to attempt to cross the desert, Javier is nervous but ready. They load into trucks to travel on the highway.
