Chapter 4 Summary

A'isha invites Zane to stay while the doctor finishes examining Danica. This is an honor because the dancers once rebelled against and killed an ancient king. Since that time, the sha'Mehay has been founded and the dancers have never returned to the king's palace. A'isha also gives Zane a coin on a leather necklace for Danica.

Betsy confirms that Danica is pregnant. She also tells Zane that Danica's body is adapting to grow a serpiente baby. Betsy says Zane shouldn't see Danica for a few days so that her body can adjust to the pregnancy. Betsy agrees to stay in a room at the palace to be close to Danica.
