Summary
Skippy and Ruprecht are having a doughnut eating competition at Ed's Doughnut House. Suddenly, Skippy collapses on the floor. Skippy starts seizing up, causing Ruprecht and the staff at Ed's to panic. Using the jelly filling from a doughnut, Skippy writes "tell Lori" on the floor, which Ruprecht correctly infers means 'tell Lori I love her." Then, Skippy dies.
Cutting to the past, Howard, a history teacher, tries to engage his class at Seabrook College, of which Ruprecht and Skippy are a part, on the topic of World War I. Skippy sits in the seat Howard once occupied as a student at Seabrook.
