Summary

In Chapter 25, the novel shifts back in time. Glory announces she will be returning to work as a personal shopper, part-time, at the store where he worked before getting married. Glory then hires Ginger to be her own mother’s helper, with the goal of especially keeping an eye on Mimi while defending Callie against people who question why she does not talk. Glory thrives at work and becomes full-time. It changes her life for the better. Glory teaches Ginger how to act to hide her feelings and pretend as if everything is always okay. Mimi explains to Glory that the real reason Callie does not talk anymore is because of what she saw last summer, according to neighborhood gossip.
