Summary

In the Prologue, Ginger Tangle worries that her daughter, Julia, may fall from the Mount Washington scenic overlook they have stopped at during a college visit trip. She reflects on how her husband, Richard, had tried to reassure her that the excursion to the overlook would be enjoyable. Ginger worries Julia is more focused on her boyfriend, Nick, than planning for college. While speaking about children, Julia overhears her parents speak about Grandma Glory’s four kids. Julia asks about this, saying she only ever thought Grandma Glory had two children – Ginger and Aunt Mimi. Ginger must now reluctantly explain they had a brother who died very young in an accident, and that their other sister, Callie, left home when young. Julia challenges her mother insisting on always being honest while hiding such a serious part of her own life. Ginger realizes...
