Chapters 9 and 10 Summary

Sgt. Byrd teaches Jamie the different Army lingo for different things. Jamie also becomes the resident expert at developing film. She ends up teaching some of the other soldiers, such as Cpl. Yarrow and Pvt. Garza how to develop their own rolls of film. Whenever TJ sends a new roll to Jamie, the other soldiers linger around to look at the pictures she develops. The ones that have been to Vietnam reminisce about their time there. The ones that haven't been seem to get really quiet when they see the pictures. Private Hollister tells Jamie that TJ is sending her letters through the pictures, and that he is sure that she is seeing more from TJ than what she is showing her parents or what TJ writes in his letters to them.
