Summary

Part VI is titled New World, Old World. In Chapter 41, Diana is not able to reach the Old Lodge. She tries for Sept-Tours but cannot hold those threads either. She fights down the panic and searches for alternatives, eventually finding a thread that was more like a root that lands them in the Bishop House where she grew up with Sarah and Emily. A magical tree grows in the house and produces a key and a page from the Ashmole manuscript. Diana takes that to mean they did not change the present regarding the manuscript. Matthew takes the key, saying Marcus and Matthew's daemon friend Hamish “would have made sure we had a way to get to Sept-Tours as planned without calling them for help” (563), adding that there are probably cars all over the country.
