In this novel, Rose loves many people. In the beginning of the novel there is Lissa. Lissa is Rose's best friend. Lissa once brought Rose back to life after a terrible car accident that killed Lissa's parents and her brother. Now they have a mental connection that allows Rose to enter Lissa's mind and see things through Lissa's eyes. This helps Rose keep Lissa safe because she always knows where Lissa is and what is happening around her.

Rose and Lissa have a friendship that is different, but strong and filled with a great deal of affection on both sides. However, Lissa also has a boyfriend who takes up a great deal of her time and affection.
