Chapter 17 - An Unexpected Twist of Fate Summary

After Dawn has a chance to get new clothes, bathe, eat and rest, he drives Dawn to Cutler's Cove. When they arrive, they realize something is wrong. They learn that Grandmother Cutler has suffered a stroke and is in the hospital. They go to the hospital and Dawn asks her grandmother about her baby. Her grandmother only tells Dawn "you're my curse," before she dies.

Back at the hotel, Dawn goes to talk to her mother. She expects her to be in bed as usual but instead her mother is sitting at her vanity brushing her hair. Dawn tries to talk to her mother about her time with Emily and asks why her mother didn't try to do anything. Her mother tells Dawn she did it to herself by getting pregnant...
