Friendship

Friendship is an important theme in the novel “Sanctum” by Madeline Roux. Friendship occurs in the novel primarily between Dan, Abby, and Jordan, and has important consequences for them as they attempt to unravel the mysteries of Brookline. Additionally, friendship also proves to be crucial for Dan, Abby, and Jordan as they struggle for survival against Reyes and the Scarlets.

When the novel begins, Dan, Abby, and Jordan have remained in touch following their ordeal at Brookline over the summer. They not only became friends because they liked one another but also because they were bound together by the abnormal experiences of Brookline. When Abby and Jordan begin receiving photographs, and when Dan receives map coordinates from Felix, they all realize that something is not quite right. As friends together, they decide to return to Brookline to solve the mystery.
