Morozova's Journals

Morozova's journals are a symbol of madness and obsession. Alina reads them to find answers about where the firebird might be, but all she sees is her own obsession with gaining the third amplifier and increasing her own powers.

Light

Light is a symbol of goodness. Alina is the only person who can summon light, but once she kills Mal and accesses the power of the third amplifier, her power leaves her and enters hundreds of nearby humans so that the power of good is infinitely multiplied throughout the world.

Darkness

Darkness is a symbol of evil. The Darkling has the power to control the dark and create shadow monsters out of it, but Alina is able to defeat him and obliterate the Fold by killing Mal and flooding light throughout the world.
