Sowell Bay

Almost all of the novel transpires in this fictional coastal town in Washington state. Sowell Bay is a typical American small town, whose sparse population density enacts closeness amongst its inhabitants. Everyone knows everyone. The primary protagonist, Tova Sullivan, was born and raised here, and has spent her entire life here. It is the place of her son Erik's death, and the hometown of Cameron Cassmore's mother Daphne. While Cameron's story begins in Southern California, it quickly ends up in Sowell Bay. It is also where Marcellus resides in the Sowell Bay Aquarium.
