Summary

In Chapter 23, Brady asks his father if they can go onto the river to search for the red kayak. Brady does not yet tell his father exactly why he wants to find the kayak. (The holes in the kayak are the only evidence of the truth, besides the drill.) They go to the place where the kayak sank, but they do not find it. Brady’s father observes the flow of the tides and concludes that the kayak is likely buried under some sand along the riverbed. They follow the current and dig into the sand, soon finding the kayak. Brady sees that the kayak does indeed have some holes drilled into it. He points them out to his father and then tells his father everything that has happened.
