Summary

Chapter l is titled “collage.” In numbers 312 through 346, the text offers a wide-ranging collection of mostly very short comments on the art of collage, or the creation of meaning through the juxtaposition of objects, images, or ideas. There references to how art created in such a way removes the need for plot, and how plot is over-rated. There are also references to how meaning is more accessible through collage, and how engagement with a collage as a viewer or a reader is very much like an experience of engaging with the fragmentary nature of life.
