Chapters 8-14 Summary

Chapter 8. Jason goes to say goodbye to two important figures in his life, Coach Cameron and his ex-girlfriend, Debra. Coach Cameron gives Jason some simple drills to do to keep himself in shape for when he begins community college in the fall. Debra wishes Jason good luck.

Chapter 9. Nelson takes his car to the shop and discovers it needs a great deal of work. Nelson's mother refuses to pay for it, so Nelson ends up spending half the money he has saved since he began working. Then the night before the trip, Kyle stays the night at Nelson's to save time in the morning. Nelson and Kyle stay up late talking.

Chapter 10. Kyle wakes long before Nelson. Kyle takes a shower and has breakfast with Nelson's mother, who makes Kyle promise to watch out for Nelson. Kyle then drags Nelson out...
