Adults Leading Kids Astray

One of the main themes in this book is betrayal by adults. At first it seems as if Matt is surrounded by adults who care about him and support him. His father pays for his steroids, and Monty measures the mediations carefully. They do this to help him build muscle and bulk so he can become a better football player. This will benefit him personally as college recruiters come around to check him out. The coach is also there to give Matt and his teammates pep talks, pushing them to do their best. It all looks good, but ultimately, Matt discovers that they are all betraying the kids they work with.
