Summary

Amal thinks about the night of the fight and how brutal the cops who arrested him were even though all of the boys were fighting, not just him. He tries to draw the confusion that he feels. He draws on the walls, the desk, the sheets, and his hands with the markers. One of the guards comes and sees what he has done, throwing him into solitary confinement. Amal cries for his mother. He looks at the butterfly that he drew on his wall and feels as though it is trying to tell him a secret. Amal sees his father in his mind.

Amal receives a letter from his friend, Lucas. Lucas apologizes for not being able to come visit. Amal regrets not going to see Lucas the night of the fight rather than going to the park.
