Pride: A Pride and Prejudice Remix Overview
In this reimagining of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, Ibi Zoboi's Pride reminds young adult readers that no matter how many centuries have passed, complexities of modern identity are often at fault for miscommunications, misunderstandings, and missed opportunities for love. Zoboi captures much of Austen's classic romantic elements and questions surrounding class and gender but also adds the study of race and American expectations of blackness. She discusses themes such as gentrification, blackness, self-awareness, prejudice, and more.
