Ring

The ring in the story has a rattlesnake on it. It had belonged to Jimmy and he had been known for gouging people's eyes out with it in fights. The ring is puked up by a toad and Kylie puts it on the sink. Gary takes it and puts it on an unidentifiable corpse.

Lilacs

Lilacs begin to grow in Sally's back yard after she and Gillian bury Jimmy. They grow at an unnatural rate and draw a lot of attention. Kylie can see Jimmy's ghost standing under the lilacs.

Biology

Biology is the subject that Ben teaches. Gillian begins studying the subject because she is so in love with Ben.

Buddy

Buddy is Ben's rabbit. The rabbit is used in Ben's magic shows, but the rabbit seems to attach itself to Gillian.
