Ethan Blake's Personal Effects

Ethan Blake’s personal effects –including a gun, a badge, a wallet with ID, and his briefcase –are all missing at the beginning of the novel. He spends a good portion of the novel attempting to track them down in order to prove who he is, and to pay for the things he needs while in town, such as a place to stay, and things to eat. Ethan is never able to find these things, because they apparently no longer exist fifteen hundred years later.
