The Park/Track

Running is very important to Patina, which means that the track where her team practices and the park where meets are held are an important part of her story. She describes these only in general terms as they apply to events. For example, there are bleachers nearby and Patina sees her family there as she prepares for her first relay race.

Chester Academy

Chester Academy is the private charter school that Patina attends. She often feels out of place, as if she does not really belong to any of the groups that make up the student body.
