Chapters 9 and 10 Summary

Tommy comes up behind Katie while she's looking at her developed pictures. Tommy agrees with Mr. Bird that she has talent for capturing people but should give up photographing wildlife. While Katie is making a payment on her camera, Tommy finds out she bought a $2,000 camera and has it on layaway. He makes a comment about her entering the pageant for the cash prizes, which is why Katie is participating. As they exit the store, they run into Eric. He asks Katie to come over later to help him pick out the headshot she took of him to send in with his college applications, which Katie knows is code for her to come over and makeout while his parents aren't home.
