Summary

Prologue – Sixteen-year-old Shay Remby heads into Home Depot to purchase H. K. Porter bolt cutters. Her wolf dog, X, is with her. She remembers the events of the previous day, rescuing Odin, seeing an Asian girl with a wired scalp, seeing Marcus West dead in a pool of his own blood, and Cruz pulling her away. Shay goes into the bathroom to find dollar bills in her pocket that haven’t been soaked with West’s blood. She does her best to clean ones with light stains, purchases the cutters, then returns to the jeep she is driving. The jeep used to belong to West. Shay tells X there will be no mercy.
