Summary

The first part of the Preface is set 10 weeks in the future on March 6. A reporter, Liz Rosen, reports on the impact of the death of a Bayview High School student. She notes it is the second student who has died in the past 18 months.

The end of the Preface goes back in time to a thread started by a person using the screen name Bayview2020 on the Vengeance is Mine Forum started by Simon Kelleher, the student who died 18 months prior. Darkestmind, the administer of the forum, asks Bayview2020 on whom he hopes to get revenge. Bayview2020 responds that someone did something that wrecked his family, but that person was never punished. Darkestmind indicates that he had a similar experience. He suggests that there is something they can do to get revenge.
