Fifteen-year-old Ruby Miliken's mother has just passed away and she is on a plane headed to meet the father she has never known. Her father and mother divorced before she was born. Ruby is not happy about being sent to be with her father. She had to leave her aunt Duffy, boyfriend Ray Johnston and best friend Lizzie Brody behind in Boston to move to Hollywood. Ruby wants to stay with her aunt, but her aunt doesn't have room for her and is too nice to say "no." So now she is on a plane to her father's house and she doesn't know what to expect from him.
