Orphanage in the Mountains

Felix’s parents abandon him at an orphanage in the mountains to keep him safe from the Nazis. Felix spends three years and eight months at this orphanage before he finds the carrot in his soup, which he believes is a sign his parents are coming back for him.

Felix’s Parents’ Bookstore

When Felix arrives at his parents’ bookstore, he discovers that it is no longer a bookstore, but has been turned into a shop for second-hand clothes. A Catholic family in town has taken over the store and is living in the apartment above the bookstore where Felix and his family once lived.
