Chapters 25 through 29 Summary

In chapter twenty-five, Britney and Jem talk for awhile, neither able to sleep. Their conversation turns to Britney's younger brother and Jem learns that Britney's brother died. Britney's father comes home and Jem overhears a bit of the conversation. She thinks he said that Spider has died, but when Britney returns, she tells Jem that her father was talking about Baz's friend.

In chapter twenty-six, Jem wakes at six-thirty. She and Britney go downstairs where Britney gathers some food and puts some other supplies into a backpack for Jem. Britney yells to her father that she's going to take the dog for a walk and the girls leave the house together. Britney points Jem in the direction of Weston before she returns toward home.
