New Haven, Connecticut

As New Haven is home to the prestigious Yale University, the majority of the novel is set in this city. As Yale is the grounds for all eight of the magical nexuses that supply the societies, Darlington notes that, “It’s the town… This is where the magic lives” (433). Aside from the vast amounts of magic, the city also displays a stark juxtaposition between the wealthy elite and lower working class, as the area of New Haven that Yale is in is vastly more privileged than the area that Tara’s apartment is in.
