Summary

In Chapter 22, Kiara returns home to find Trevor bloody and bruised. She cleans him up and vows to hurt whoever beat him up. She calls Tony and asks him to bring a first aid kit. When he arrives, she is grateful, but also recognizes that she will never return his romantic feelings. She tells him this and he leaves. She wishes Alé was with her.

In Chapter 23, Kiara learns her mother has been released from the halfway house and is living with a friend. Trevor tells her that he was beaten up by a group of boys on the basketball court and she is consumed with thoughts of revenge. Dee arrives and asks to see Trevor but Kiara tells her no.
