Chapter 31-35 Summary

Stone begins studying for the bar and working on the house each night. Cary is busy all week, but the two have dinner at Elaine's on Saturday. Elaine tells Stone that Doc had been in and a woman claimed that he had tried to push her into a van. Stone tells Elaine that Van Fleet is not even a real doctor and she vows that he will not be allowed back in the bar.

At home, Cary and Stone are both tired and their lovemaking is nothing like the passion they usually share. Cary decides to go home and sleep, promising to be in better spirits the following week. Stone gets a call from Bill Eggers, asking him to meet at The Four Seasons for dinner to discuss something.
