Chapters 6-10 Summary

In chapter six, Stone and Dino head to the Van Fleet Funeral Parlor to meet with Marvin Herbert Van Fleet. The detectives meet Mrs. Van Fleet, Marvin's mother, who takes them to her son. Marvin is working on a body, preparing it for viewing. Doc tells Stone that he has been expecting a visit, given the nature of his relationship with Sasha Nijinsky, taking the detectives by surprise. Doc tells them that after seeing Stone at Elaine's he drove home, stopping briefly at the scene of Sasha's fall, but denying he knew who was the victim. Afterwards, Doc headed home to his apartment over an old glove factory, alone. Stone asks if they can see Doc's apartment, and though Doc states that he will do whatever he can to help Sasha, he feels that the detectives should get a search warrant...
